Stranger Than Paradise

Everyone is cordially invited, with aperitif. The exhibition will open with a talk with textile researcher Thessy Schoenholzer Nichols and the opportunity to rediscover gardens of paradise with her and walk through the Olma carpet together.

At the center of the Stranger Than Paradise exhibition is the monumental picture collage carpet that thrilled the audience at the Olma. Many of the carpet’s motifs are works from the museum’s collection, depicting paradisiacal scenes and transfigured idylls. The exhibition also shows pictures of the carpet in the original and complements them thematically with further works. In the cabinet, Thessy Schoenholzer shows Nichols Hortus conclusus – miniature textile gardens.
